A studio in Ash-Shahba'a
ZIDANE Architects was founded in 2015 and has kept a studio in Ash-Shahba'a, Aleppo, ever since. That matters for the kind of work the region needs: ground-up industrial and commercial buildings, where a practice has to understand what materials can actually be sourced and what a local contractor can actually build, not only what draws well.
The Aleppo studio carries architecture, interiors and construction with in-house site teams. Damascus and the wider Levant are served from the same office.
Industrial and commercial work
Industrial is the discipline that most distinguishes the Syrian practice from the Istanbul one — production facilities with real process requirements, plot planning, circulation for vehicles as well as people, and a budget with no room for decoration. It is also the work that best shows the studio can run a project from empty plot to handover.
